Stunning views of Lake Windermere from the room.
The breakfast service was slow, leaving us waiting for too long.

I recently spent a night at the Macdonald in Bowness-on-Windermere. The views of the lake from my room were stunning and definitely the highlight of my stay. The room itself was clean with a massive comfy bed, making it a nice place to relax. The staff were friendly and helpful during check-in, which made a positive first impression. I found the check-in time quite late at 4pm, considering the facilities like the gym and pool closed early at 6pm. It really cut into our time to relax and enjoy them. Breakfast was decent but had significant delays on beverage orders, which left us frustrated and waiting longer than expected for cold toast. The atmosphere was nice, but the execution felt lacking, especially with the flies on the plates. It's also worth mentioning that parking was overpriced, which added to my frustrations. The internet connection struggled as well, making it hard to stay connected. the beautiful lake view and friendly staff made the stay enjoyable, but the service issues and costs were notable drawbacks.

Great staff and fab view!
We had a really nice stay! The location’s perfect, and the view from the bar is stunning—watched the lake change colors, no filter needed! The bed was comfy and the bathroom was super clean. the breakfast could've been better. the toast was always cold and the portions a bit small. Room service was slow, too.

Couple's Average Stay
Checked in for one night and the room was comfortable with a nice view, managed to enjoy the late night drink at the bar, even though it was overpriced, but the staff were friendly enough. Breakfast was decent, plenty of options to choose from and we left full, that was a plus.
It wasn’t cheap but I’d say it was still reasonable for what we got.

Had a blast with my friends! We enjoyed sailing and exploring local marinas. The area has tons of activities for everyone. Just a heads up, breakfast can get busy, so try to arrive early to avoid the rush.
We had a hiccup with the check-out process, which took longer than expected due to billing confusion. Frustrating for sure.

We really enjoyed our stay, especially relaxing in the sauna and taking a dip in the indoor pool. The room was clean, had comfortable beds, and the Elemis toiletries were a nice touch, though the WiFi could be spotty. A little tip – try to get your spa appointments sorted beforehand to make the most of your stay! 😊
